Medical lab testing and in-office diagnostics

In-Office Services

Labs, Testing & Procedures — Done Here, Not Sent Elsewhere

One of the advantages of a DPC practice is that we can do more in-house — and do it at dramatically lower cost. Most routine labs, diagnostic tests, and minor procedures are handled right here in our Steilacoom office, without additional referrals or facility fees.

What We Offer In-House

Most of these are included in your DPC membership. For non-members, we offer wholesale lab pricing — typically a fraction of what you'd pay at a hospital or commercial lab.

The DPC Difference for Labs and Procedures

In traditional fee-for-service medicine, labs and procedures are billed separately — often at rates that bear little relationship to actual cost. A basic metabolic panel that costs a lab $3 to run can be billed at $80 or more through a hospital system.

As a DPC practice, we've negotiated wholesale pricing with our lab partners. Members get labs included in their membership. Non-members pay our wholesale cost — which is often substantially lower than retail or hospital lab pricing.

For procedures, members pay nothing extra. We don't charge a separate fee to remove a skin tag, do an EKG, or treat an ingrown toenail. These are part of what your membership covers.

This model works because we're not dependent on procedure volume to keep the lights on. We do what's clinically appropriate — not what generates the most billing codes.

Patients from Steilacoom, Lakewood, DuPont, and University Place have found that this approach saves them significant money over the course of a year, especially for patients who need regular labs or have recurring skin or musculoskeletal issues.
