Primary Care

Family Medicine for Every Stage of Life

At Dunn Family Medicine in Steilacoom, we provide comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages — from children to seniors. As a direct primary care practice, we have the time to actually listen, think, and partner with you on your health.

A Doctor Who Knows You — Not Just Your Chart

Family medicine is built on continuity. When you see the same physician year after year, they understand your history, your concerns, and what "normal" looks like for you. That context makes a real difference — in the accuracy of diagnoses, the relevance of advice, and the trust that makes it easier to bring up the things you might otherwise avoid mentioning.

Drs. Angela and Noel Dunn are board-certified family physicians who chose the direct primary care model specifically because it allows them to practice medicine the way it should be practiced. No rushed 10-minute appointments. No pressure to order unnecessary tests to justify a billing code. Just thoughtful, personalized care.

Patients come to us from Steilacoom, Lakewood, DuPont, University Place, and across the greater Tacoma area. Many have never had a doctor who remembered their name between visits. That changes here.

What to Expect at Your Visit

Our appointments are longer by design — typically 30 to 60 minutes — so there's time to address everything on your list.

1

A real conversation

Your visit starts with your doctor actually listening. We want to understand your concerns, your goals, and your life — not just your symptoms.

2

Thorough evaluation

We take the time to examine you properly, review your history, and think through what's going on. Many issues that get missed in rushed visits become clear when there's time to look.

3

A plan that makes sense

You leave with a clear understanding of what's happening and what to do next. We explain our thinking, answer your questions, and follow up when needed.

Our Approach to Primary Care

We practice evidence-based medicine, but we also recognize that guidelines are starting points, not scripts. Every patient is different, and good primary care means applying clinical knowledge to the person in front of you — not to an average.

We're also trained in osteopathic medicine, which means we bring an additional lens to musculoskeletal complaints, chronic pain, and whole-body function. Osteopathic manipulation (OMT) is available as part of your care when appropriate.

For patients dealing with weight, metabolic health, or chronic disease, we integrate lifestyle medicine principles — addressing sleep, nutrition, stress, and activity as core parts of treatment, not afterthoughts.

When you need a specialist, we help coordinate that care and stay involved. You won't fall through the cracks between referrals.
